TOPIC: How Community Interaction Can Reduce
SPEAKER: Larry Lipton, Chairman-elect Crime Awareness
Committee
Houston NW Chamber of Commerce
- Sheriff Tommy Thomas started the SIG meetings as an opportunity for area
residents to become knowledgeable about law enforcement activities taking
place in their area and to meet the Sheriff’s Deputies responsible for
providing police protection. These meetings are very successful in allowing
individuals who might not otherwise have an opportunity to talk one-on-one
with Sheriff Department Management. Plus, this is a great opportunity to
learn directly from those who provide your police protection what type of
crime is taking place and how to combat this type of crime during our
question and answer session. Perhaps you have a traffic concern you want to
bring to the attention of the Sheriff’s Department, here is the perfect
place to start an on-going discussion toward resolving that problem.
- Mr. Larry Lipton, Chairman-elect of the Crime Awareness Committee of the
Houston NW Chamber of Commerce will be speaking on how community involvement
reduces crime in a community.
- Knowledge is one of the best defenses against criminal activity. If a
community has knowledge of what types of crime are most active in an area,
then there is an opportunity to fight back. Sheriff Thomas believes strongly
in pro-active policing as a crime fighting tool. Please join the Sheriff’s
Department as they strive to keep your community a wonderful place to live
and raise a family. Together we can make a difference.
- Questions, call Karen Lightfoot at 281-376-2997, District One Harris
County Sheriff’s Department. Sponsor is the Northwest Security Coordinator’s
Association, which was started in 1985 to provide accurate information to
Security Coordinators so they may educate their residents.
