     Watch your mail for the next Sheriff’s Interaction Group (S.I.G..) meeting announcement.  Last Tuesday, the 24th, saw a rejuvenated SIG meeting at County Line Barbecue on Cutten Road.   Nearly 80 people attended.  Aside from a regular program time is set aside for questions, comments, and concerns from you.

      In the U.S. during 1995, a person under the age of 20 died in a traffic crash an average of once an hour during the weekend and once every two hours on a weekdays. 

     Universal bicycle helmet used by children ages 4 to 15 would prevent 39,000 to 45,000 head injuries, and 18,000 to 55,000 scalp and face injuries annually. 

     In 1995, 29.5 percent of high school seniors acknowledged having five or more drinks in a row during the previous two weeks. 

     Statewide accidents, not listed as involving alcohol, killed 3,082 persons with 336,823 injuries reported and 517,646 people involved in accidents without injuries reported at scene. 

     In 1996, Harris County had 3,704 DWI accidents followed by Dallas county with,482.
