Another law, found at Texas Civil Statutes Article 1446c, 119 and 120, requires a telephone solicitor to make every effort not to call a consumer who asks not to be called again. Complaints relating to a violation of this law are investigated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas. If you have a complaint about repeated solicitations from a telephone solicitor you have asked not to call again, contact:

Public Information Office

Public Utility Commission of TX

7800 Shoal Creek Blvd.

Austin, TX 78757

or call: 512-458-0256

There is some record keeping effort on the part of the recipient but the end result is usually a decrease in unwanted telephone calls. Records should be kept of the date and time of the call indicating the date a request was made not to call a particular number again. Also, keep the name of each person whom you contact. Then, date and time of subsequent calls will need to be provided in order to show that indeed additional calls were made after the request to halt all calls.

Solicitation by mail. To help limit unwanted advertising by mail, write a letter to the following address asking to have your name removed. Be sure to include your name (exactly as it appears) along with the exact address.
