Another Rising Star
Kaye Rosenquist

Deputy J. Morrow, Harris County Sheriff’s Department contract deputy for Old Oaks subdivision is another rising star in District One.  He has spent 8 1/2 years working in law enforcement and considers this  a job that he loves more than anything else.

Deputy Morrow likes children and loves working with teenagers - he likes to go that extra step in helping direct their lives in a most positive way.  As he was growing up, his mother made him complete a task that he didn’t really want to complete.  She reminded him that one day he would understand why completing tasks and staying out of trouble would be so important.   After one difficult scene involving teenagers and their parents, he understood and called his mother to say, “thanks for always being there.”  He now understood why it was so important to have rules and have someone who cared enough to make sure those rules were followed.

While golf, hunting, fishing and water skiing occupy his time off duty, he has had a most successful career in a usually pretty sleepy contract.  He helped solve a particularly puzzling drive by shooting in the area and recently had a major drug arrest resulting from a routine traffic violation. In both cases, it was Deputy Morrow’s ability to go the extra step, ask a few more questions, and dig a little deeper that made the difference.

While Deputy Morrow is very approachable for area teenagers, he also has a little advice to offer for parents.  “Never make your children afraid of the police and parents should set a good example by stopping at stop signs, controlling speeding, wearing seat belts, and by showing respect for law enforcement.”  These values are important for children to learn by example.
The North-West Security Coordinators’ Association would like to salute Deputy J. Morrow as an outstanding contract deputy in District One.  Deputy Morrow can be reached by calling District One Substation    281-376-2997.
