Traffic Citations

On the bottom of each monthly report it states how many traffic citations are issued by each deputy assigned to the contract. The residents need not worry about getting a "ticket" if they follow the law.  Listed are some of the entries on the Fine Schedule from Judge M. Gorczynski's court, effective date is 1 January 2002.  

Speeding 1 to 10 MPH over posted limit =  $90.00
Add $5.00 for each mile after 10 miles over the speed limit. Example: 15 miles over = $115.  20 miles over = $140.
Fail to Stop for School bus, pass or overtake a school bus = $1,065.00
Driving without lights when required = $120.00
Fail to stop at designed point / STOP sign = $125.00
Fail to yield right of way to emergency vehicle = $160.00
No brake lights, no license plate light = $70.00
No drivers license =  $155.00
No drivers license on demand =  $120.00
Operate Motor Vehicle without license plate / one license plate =  $70.00
Expired drivers license = $100.00
Failure to change address =  $75.00
Violate DL restrictions = $100.00
No seat belt -- Driver / Passenger = $90.00
Child not secured by a seat belt = $155.00
Expired registration / No inspection sticker = $70.00
Failure to maintain financial responsibility (no insurance) = $310.00

     All money collected from issuance of citations goes directly to Harris County General Budget, and NOT Harris County Sheriff's Department.

     The deputies are keeping our residents and neighborhoods safer.
