Helpful Info For Security Coordinators

Got a Problem? Who Can You Call?

The problem solver for the coordinators is Sgt. Ken Ligouri. His pager number is 713-760-7947. Cypresswood station is 281-376-2997 and the District One Storefront is 281-445-9892.

District One Roster is as follows:

Captain Terry Enloe
Day Shift Lt. Rich Sangemino, Sgt. John Trump, Sgt. Hamilton Mayberry and Sgt. Mary Reed
Evening Shift Lt. M. Covin, Sgt. Charles, Sgt. Dennis Brown and Sgt. Ellington
Night Shift Lt. C. Lee, Sgt. B. J. Taylor and Sgt. T. Bohannon
Captain's Secretary Karen Lightfoot
Crime Analyst Kristi Parrott

Let the NWSCA Board of Directors know if you would like to have any of the supervisors attend our meetings. Sometimes it helps to be able to put a face with the name when talking to them on the telephone.

   Sheriff's Department Ride Along Program

Periodically, you may consider riding along with the deputy assigned to your neighborhood. The "Ride Along Program" gives the Coordinator an opportunity to observe first hand some of the many things involved during patrol in the subdivisions. To participate, consult with the deputy, check with management at Cypresswood, and complete the appropriate paperwork.

It must be understood in advance that if the deputy is needed in a high priority situation or has to proceed to a crime scene, you will be let out at an agreed upon location, and there you may wait for pick up. Limit your time in the car to an hour or two at a time. As Security Coordinator, we do not want to abuse the program, or put undue pressures on deputies. The ride will bring new respect for the job.

It is a good idea for all Coordinators to take the Sheriff's department Citizen's Police Academy. (CPA).

Security Coordinators, invite your subdivision Board of Directors to sign up for the Ride Along Program. The neighborhood does look different from inside a patrol car.

   Vacation Time Is Near

School will soon be out for the summer and residents will be going on vacations. Now is the time to get a Vacation/Security Watch form to your residents. Your residents will appreciate it.

The form is filled out with the information requested. A few days before departure the completed form should be mailed to Cypresswood. While they are away, a deputy will check on their home at least once a day.

When you put the form in the newsletter, it is helpful to put in other hints for a worry free vacation, such as:

Request that the Post Office hold your mail until your return.
Stop newspaper delivery or have a trusted friend pick up the paper daily from your yard.
Put inside lights on timers to give the appearance that the home is not vacant for long periods of time.
Leave at least one radio on. Radios can also be put on timers. Some people prefer to have a radio in different rooms on different stations. The feeling being, if the family is all home, not everyone is watching or listening to the same station.
Place your phone on "call forwarding" to a trusted friend.
Either board the pets, or have someone check on them daily.
